Hallowed Waters Tour

Year-Round

$920 (2 full days, up to 2 people), $1440 (3 full days, up to 2 people), $1860 (3 full days + ½ DAY, up to 2 people)

The Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania and the southern Catskills of New York are the historic epicenters of fly fishing in America. Allenberry is situated in the heart of the Cumberland Valley and at the heart of what we call our “Hallowed Waters”. The Letort Spring Creek, Big Spring Creek and Yellow Breeches Creek, two classic limestone spring streams and one freestone stream make up these waters and have influenced anglers, such as Vince Marinaro, Charlie Fox, Joe Brooks and Lefty Kreh. These streams offer a variety of riparian ecosystems illustrating the diversity of our fly fishing opportunities.

We recommend that you spend 2 – 4 days with our Orvis-certified guide partners from TCO Fly Shop to get the most out of this experience. Depending upon the time of year, you’ll match the hatch with Tricos, Sulphurs, Whiteflies, and terrestrials on the surface or strip streamers to entice big brown trout in deeper water. As with most chalk streams, fish on the Letort and Big Spring are selective and the fishing can be demanding. Accurate casting and line management skills are at a premium here, but the payoff can be great as these fish live in an incredibly nutrient-rich habitat and grow to amazing proportions in relatively small water. Fishing on the “Breeches” is typically a bit more straightforward. It is prime nymphing water throughout the year with very predictable hatches in the spring and great terrestrial fishing during the summer. If you want a Cumberland Valley trout sampler, our partners at TCO will make it worth your while!

Package includes lodging in our Pine, Meadow, or Stone Lodges. Lodging in the Mansion or one of our Cottages will be subject to availability and upcharge. Additional nights can be added to your quote. The package also includes 1 breakfast item, 1 drink, and 1 complimentary lunch a day.

You’ll spend the morning learning the basics of casting, aquatic entomology, fly selection and reading the water. After lunch you’ll hit the stream with one of our experienced, patient, and Orvis-certified guides from TCO Fly Shop. You’ll put to use the skills you learned in the morning as you present the fly to out resident Brown and Rainbow trout and chances are you’ll get one in the net!

Trout & Bass Combo Tour

April,  July-October

$1020 (2 full days, up to 2 people)

This offering, guided by our partners at TCO Fly Shop, is a classic combination of the fishing that makes our part of the country so special. On the first day, you will wade fish on the Yellow Breeches, Big Spring or Letort for Brown or Rainbow trout. These fish have inhabited the spring-fed streams in the Cumberland Valley since the late 1880’s and attract anglers from all over the country.

The second day will be spent floating in a drift boat on either the Juniata or Susquehanna River. Drift boats are designed for fly fishing and provide the angler with a stable, comfortable platform from which to cast. You will be fishing for Smallmouth bass which is native to Pennsylvania and have provided fly anglers with a popular target species for many years. The water that you’ll be fishing is an area where Bob Clouser developed his famous “Clouser Minnow”, one of the most popular flies in the world.

Two Rivers, Two Days Tour

$1120 (2 full days, up to 2 people)

For anglers who really love Smallmouth bass fishing, we are offering the chance to float the two best-known rivers in the Mid Atlantic for bronzebacks. The Juniata is a tributary of the Susquehanna, just over 100 miles long and is known for its intimate nature and big fish. Its shallow course passes through a couple of mountain ridges and characteristically steep-sided water gaps.

The Susquehanna is one of the oldest rivers in the world and drains nearly 30,000 square miles, including half the land area of Pennsylvania. It is the longest river on the East Coast that enters the Atlantic Ocean and the longest river in the U.S. without commercial boat traffic, making it a very scenic float.

Depending upon the time of year, you will be fishing streamers beneath the surface imitating minnows, crayfish, and hellgrammites, or popping bugs on the surface. These surface flies can produce explosive strikes that you won’t soon forget. These rivers are a testament to wise resource management and produce bass up to 20 inches long, and your unforgettable two-day excursion will be guided by our expert partners from TCO Fly Shop.

Package includes lodging in our Pine, Meadow, or Stone Lodges. Lodging in the Mansion or one of our Cottages will be subject to availability and upcharge. Additional nights can be added to your quote. Package also includes 1 breakfast item, 1 drink, and 1 complimentary lunch a day.

Fly-fishing excursions must be booked a week in advance. Without booking a week in advance, packages will be subject to availability. Price is for 2 people and non-negotiable.
